YNPN Information sessions 10/22 and 10/27

YNPN is looking for young leaders like you to help take our local chapter to the next level. Our volunteer board has a great strategic vision and is committed to helping YNPN do more, but we cannot do it without your help.

We're looking for people to get involved on both the committee and board levels. Each require different tasks and time commitments, which our outlined in greater detail at the end of this email.

For those of you that are interested in learning more about YNPN, we invite you to come to one of our upcoming information sessions. Current board members will be in attendance to answer your questions and give you a first-hand perspective of what it’s like to lead this great organization. Come and learn, bring your questions, and let us know what you're interested in.

YNPN Information sessions:

  • Wed 10/22 7:30 a.m. Miss Katie's Diner (1900 W. Clybourn St, Milwaukee)
  • Mon 10/27 6:00 p.m. Rudy's Mexican Restaurant (1122 N. Edison St, Milwaukee)

Can't make those sessions? Already know you want to be involved? Email Nick Lyons.

Our mission is to help young professionals enhance the nonprofit sector. Your insight and experience will help us do that. We are looking forward to you getting more involved!

More information on getting involved:

  • Committee Involvement:
Committee members generally spend 1-3 hours a month preparing for and attending YNPN events and activities. This includes hosting events to help others learn about the nonprofit sector, planning networking events and/or activities focused on recruiting new members.
  • Board Involvement:
Our volunteer board of directors commit to strategically leading and growing our organization. Board members commit to a 2 year term and currently meet on a monthly basis. In general, 4-6 hours a month is a fair estimate of the time commitment.
Thank you,

Nick Lyons

Also introducing our new series topic: The Nature. Our next 3 books will be related to environmental topics, and our first is a discussion on what would happen to the world if humans suddenly disappeared (all other factors remaining the same). The book discusses how nature would take over our concrete cities within decades, and what would be left of our legacy hundreds of years after we disappeared if, in fact, we disappeared completely and nature was left to its own devices.

The next meeting is June 24th at Trocadero where we will discuss the book, the nature, and take suggestions/decide upon July’s title.

Amazon.com Review:
In Myla Goldberg's outstanding first novel, a family is shaken apart by a small but unexpected shift in the prospects of one of its members. When 9-year-old Eliza Naumann, an otherwise indifferent student, takes first prize in her school spelling bee, it is as if rays of light have begun to emanate from her head. Teachers regard her with a new fondness; the studious girls begin to save a place for her at lunch. Even Eliza can sense herself changing. She had "often felt that her outsides were too dull for her insides, that deep within her there was something better than what everyone else could see."
